As we take time to reflect on all Jesus has done in our lives this Easter, I put down a few thoughts to share with you about what He has done for me. I hope you will be encouraged.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
The verse has special meaning for me because Jesus fulfilled this verse in my life. Please take a few moments and read how He provided the following in my life. May you be encouraged by the faithfulness, tenderness, and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus healed my heart
I lived 32 years without acknowledging God. Disappointments of life hardened my heart. But Jesus changed my hard heart into a tender heart full of love.
Jesus freed me from bondage
I allowed discouragement and resentment to turn into bitterness. My heart was full of rage. I was in bondage to it. I could not control it. It overcame me, made me not care how others felt. I lived to please myself. Then I meet Jesus who forgave me. He released me from my burden of shame.
Jesus dispelled my darkness
My hardened heart was filled with dark hatred. No longer was there love or joy in my life. I was a cold, hard, bitter woman who turned to perfectionism and work to make everything look good on the outside. But when Jesus came into my life, the foolishness fled. His righteousness filled me and made me a new creation. He turned my darkness into light.
Jesus comforted me in sorrow
As I mourned my failings, my sins, Jesus met me with love, mercy and forgiveness. As He comforted me, I began to comfort others. He gave me a writing ministry to encourage others with His words. This gave me meaning and purpose.
Jesus provided beauty for ashes
Though I made some poor choices that damaged my relationship with my husband, Jesus changed me from the inside out. When there was nothing lovely about me, Jesus made me beautiful and restored my marriage.
Jesus provided joy instead of mourning
As I began to walk according to Jesus’ way, He blessed my husband and I with a second son. This made me feel like David and Bethsheba when they had Solomon. It was a healing moment in our marriage.
Jesus provided praise instead of despair
While I could have easily stayed focused on my sin and never forgot how bad I had been, it wasn’t God’s plan for me. Instead He poured into me a gratefulness for all His mercy and forgiveness, which allows me to be thankful always.
Jesus did this for me. He loved me enough to die for me and proved I was valuable to Him.
He loves you too!
Have you experienced Jesus’ love for you yet? If not, what are you waiting for?
Matthew 11:29-30 NKJV Jesus says “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
O’Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me enough to die for me. Thank you for coming into my life and change me. Thank you for giving me value and worth in your eyes. Thank you for restoring my marriage, expanding our family, and giving me a ministry to share your love with others. May others read this testimony and be blessed by your loving kindness and mercy. May it draw them closer to you. In your precious name, Jesus, I pray these things. Amen.
In His Grace,
