Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10 NKJV
I love this verse not only for what it says but also for what it doesn’t say.
Where does the strength come from? It comes from God Himself. This is good news because if I had to rely on my own strength I’d be in real trouble! I lived many years trying to handle everything all on my own strength. It didn’t turn out so well. Thank God I finally learned God was more than capable to handle my problems.
Is there anything that is too difficult for God to handle? No! He spoke and the world was made. He caused barren women to bear children. He healed the incurable. He cast out demons. He walked on water. He came alive after dying on the cross. He raised people from the dead. Nothing is too hard for Him!
The “be strong in the Lord” phrase might also be interpreted as “be confident in the Lord”. Why do we need confidence in the Lord? Knowing god can do all thing, nothing slips past Him unaware, that He is all powerful, should give me confidence to trust He has my back. He cares for me. He knows what I’m going through and He will guide me through every step of the way.
I love the phrase “in the power of His might.” This tells me I don’t have to posses the power or the might. I am to tap into His! The God who spoke and formed all that I see, the God who sees the beginning and the end at the same time, the god who gives life or remove it, the God who heals, transforms, redeems, and restores has all the power and might I need.
Not only does God have the power to act, but He has the authority to act! He is God, ruler of all. He created it all. He has every right to rule it all too!
What these encouraging words Paul write to the Ephesians, “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!”
