What do our words say about us? Do the words we use matter? Let’s look a few verses to see what God says.
Psalm 10:4 The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God: God is in none of his thoughts.
Philippians 4:8-9 …Whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, if any virtue, or praiseworthy meditate on these things. … do these and the God of peace with be with you.
Proverbs 10:31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut out.
Proverbs 10:32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasures of his heart bring forth good; and the evil man out of the evil treasures of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth but what is good for necessary edification that it may impart grace to the hearers.
So what are you filling your mind with?
What treasures are in your heart? The words we use will tell us.
Don’t like what you see? There’s no time like the present to make a change.
Ask Jesus into your life. He will change you into a new creation.
I know because He did it for me. I was once very bitter and hateful. The words of my mouth were not pleasant. But when I asked Jesus into my life, He took my old stony heart out and replaced it with a tender heart of love.
It’s never too late to change.
Jesus’s arms are always open to receive you. So come to Him.
Father, may those reading this be pricked in their heart and desire a good change. Please fill them with your Spirit that they may experience a good treasure in their hearts from now on. In Jesus’ name Amen.
