Small Group Tip #4 Fun with Games
By Elizabeth Marks
Have you ever played games with your small group?
Next time you’re in between studies, try playing a Bible game with your group. It’s sure to shake things up and keep it entertaining. There are lots of games you could try. One of my favorites is Bible Outburst.
The game is easy. There are cards with a topic, a handheld device you insert card into which reveals the answers. For example, the topic might be “Miracles of the Bible”. The group is to shout out as many answers as they can within 1 minute. It’s fun.
Don’t worry if your members aren’t completely familiar with the Bible. This game is an excellent way to help them get familiar. In fact, when they get stumped and can’t seem to guess an answer you could prompt them towards the answer by telling a Bible story that answer is found in.
If you don’t have the game, you could make your own. Where ever you study the Word of God, have a notebook handy to jot down Bible facts you discover. Over time, review your list and category the facts you found. Try it sometime! It might just re-energize your small group.
